"Who wouldn't want me? I'm gorgeous!"

-Apollo boasting

Appearance[]

Apollo is a male Egyptian Nadder, or what we call a Super Nadder. His species was bred over thousands of years from ancient Nadders, into a sub group that was capable of instantly piercing through shields and prey items. Becuase of this ability, Apollo has tail barbs that are the equivalent of spears, except that they can be shot with pin point accuracy and can pierce through flesh very easily.

Apollo has pure white scales and orange-ish gold details over his body. His underbelly, wings, crown, and spines are all in this golden coloration. The base of his claws are also yellow, and at his ankles are two bright stripe patterns.

Apollo is described as extremely handsome, yet too vain for anyone's liking.

Personality[]

Apollo has a very bold and snooty personality, believing that he is extremely handsome and deserves the utmost respect. This causes most dragons to rate him as intolerable and overly prideful, sometimes staying far away from him.

Apollo is the run of the mill annoying character. He is often seen bombarding poor Eros with lack luster jokes and fooling around until he tires out. Unfortunately for Eros, Egyptian Nadders are infamous for their seemingly infinite stamina.

Usually Apollo acts like he is the bomb or something, and thinks that all the females dig him, which is not true, at all. He often jokes about how short and tiny Eros is, and that he is a noob at picking up girls while having the name of Eros, which is the God of love.

Though Apollo may look cowardly and vain on the outside, he does have a kind heart. He would usually try his best to cheer someone up, but alas someone who loves himself too much can never be that much of an emotional support.

Like this one time a young Typhoomerang chipped off half of his horn in a battle against the Milneys, and all Apollo could manage to say was: "Hey it could be much worse, you could've died or something I dunno-"

Despite being a total dunce head, you could tell that he's just really trying his best.

At times, Apollo would feel as if he really isn't worth as much as he thought he would be. As the words of others may affect him really easily. To make it short only Eros knows that he hides his insecurity beneath a mask of ego.

Oh and also random fact, Apollo loves corn and chicken, but corn is probably his most favorite, When he is upset, he would like to make a barrier of corn around it, and call it, "corn land."

Early Life[]

Apollo was hatched in the wild with his parents and one female sibling. Together, they resided on a small island within a whole colony of Egyptian Nadders. Apollo's wild given name was BrightWing, a common name given to beautiful or generally brightly colored dragons. He spent his first few weeks playing and spending time with his sister Lune, learning tricks to survive in the wild with their parents.

Approximately one month later, the island was discovered by dragon hunters, followed by a violent massacre of the local dragon population. Only a few Nadders were left alive, which included Apollo and his sister.

After being shipped from one place to the next, he and his sibling finally landed at a popular theatre. From then on, Apollo slowly learned to understand parts of human speech as he got more associated with the two legged creatures. After awhile, he had lost his old name to forgotten memories and soon started to address himself as Apollo, like the humans did.

The humans running the play liked to use dragons as actors. Apollo happened to be extremely popular among the audience, earning him great amounts of praise and recognition. When his owners were not looking, the audience secretly fed him treats and snacks. This is likely what had sparked his egotistical personality, while Artemis's(Lune's) happiness dwindled.

Though both of them were unhappy, Artemis had it much worse than Apollo as she was never popular enough. She often stayed inside cages whilst Apollo was doing all the acting. Though Apollo tries to calm her, Artemis remains miserable at all times.

One night, Artemis proposed the idea of escaping into the wild. She promised Apollo that they'll finally be happy and free in the wilderness, without any humans to interfere with their life. Apollo yearned freedom as much as Artemis did, but he was taken aback by fear. Doubting Artemis's plan, she flew into a rage, believing that he had grown fond of the humans because of his blinding pride.

Feeling betrayed, she attempted to escape by herself, leaving him behind.

The next day, it was rumored around the theatre that Artemis had been caught. Apollo awaited her return dearly, but she never came back to him. Having the idea that Artemis is most likely dead, it left him in despair.

Abilities[]

Firepower[]

Just like normal Deadly Nadders, Egyptian Nadders are also able to fire an intensely hot magnesium fire breath. With this fire, Apollo is able to burn down seastacks and many other metals without problem. Apollo usually uses his fire breath to attack enemies in close range, his hot flames is shaped like a stream of white, blinding sparks. Apollo actually prefers using his flames over his spines, unlike the original Nadders. It is unknown why, but most would speculate that it takes quite some time for Apollo to grow back/regenerate his already released spines.

Spineshot[]

Apollo has a barbed tail full of poisonous spines just like any Nadder dragon, except only a part of the tail is not covered, for mobility reasons. What's special about Apollo's spines is that since his species was bred entirely to have longer and sharper spines, they act like deadly spears, able to pierce through most armor from far away. This spine shot ability allows Apollo to effortlessly kill his prey from a long distance. Though it is said that they could shoot at extreme accuracy, it only applies if Apollo has a destined location, or the target/prey is not moving too quickly.

Just like other Deadly Nadders, Apollo is also able to fly upwards and twist his body, sending his deadly spines to shoot in all directions, like a twister. However, Apollo does not like using this ability as much, and will only do so in more dire situations.

Sharp Sense of Smell[]

Since Apollo's breed was specifically created to be hunting dragons, Apollo has a very accurate and sharp sense of smell. Apollo even claims that the senses of a Egyptian Nadder are essentially heightened from that of a normal Nadder, though it is not known if it is true, or either he is just boasting again.

Nonetheless, Apollo could smell and track down enemies with this ability.

Strength[]

Apollo isn't exactly too strong, and his power is usually average. He could do many things such as lifting food or boars, but asking him to lift a whole Scauldron or even a Seashocker would be too much work.

Speed[]

Apollo is also average in terms of speed, having the same speed stat as a normal Nadder. Apollo does often complain about his wings aching however, so it could be theorized that he does not enjoy flying a lot. (Unless he is trying to impress someone)

Intelligence[]

He doesn't know what that means and he probably has none.

- Eros was here (don't tell him I wrote this)

Weaknesses[]

Blind Spot[]

Just like all Nadders, Apollo has that infamous blind spot, and if you stand just between his nose and eyes, he would not be able to see you. Though he makes up for it in smell, you could still sneak up on him pretty easily. Apollo hates when others take advantage of this, and to cope with his angery boi feelings he completely surrounds himself in a wall of corn. (Yes he has done this before)

Vulnerable Areas[]

Apollo as a Nadder has a softer underbelly compared to his scales. Since his underbelly is also always exposed when he is shooting spines, which makes him a target for attack in those areas. And Apollo might also collapse momentarily if scratched the right way under his chin, which is like what normal Nadders do. Though Apollo doesn't encounter this often, since he has cut all contacts with humans.

Vanity[]

Vanity could be one of Apollo's weaknesses, as it takes a lot for him to swallow his pride. Vanity and over confidence could potentially lead to his defeat if not careful.

Another thing to note is that Apollo seems attracted to shiny things, as well as mirrors. Apollo would definitely stop by and get distracted by a mirror, since he'd just spend time preening and admiring himself.

Food Motivation[]

Apollo could possibly be bribed with food, just like how Stormfly was bribed by chicken. Though Everest had been trying hard to contain Apollo's outrageous love for corn...it still isn't safe to say.

Relations[]

(If you want your character to be featured in this section. let me know on my message wall or in the comments!)

Eros[]

Apollo and Eros are like peas in a pod, if you find one, you are sure to find the other. They are like two individuals bound by the red string of fate, destined to meet and do great things one day. Though Eros and Apollo have quite the contradicting personalities, they wouldn't make it without each other. Apollo would often call Eros an emotionless stone face and Eros would call Apollo an overgrown chicken. Though their relationship is mostly described as one might come back one day to have the other murdered, it still works fairly well to say the least. Apollo trusts Eros with his own life, and would grow extremely lonely without him.

At times, they would fight and bicker, becoming bitter rivals, but then a day later they start talking about how much they hate Hunters, and their friendship is instantly restored.

Everest[]

(Reb9287nadder's character) Apollo looks up to the leader of Team Soteria more than anything, though he won't care to admit it. Ever since he has been accepted to help fight evil on their side, Apollo has never felt more free and relaxed. Apollo finds peace while finally being able to live life where he should've been, outside, and not in an enclosure.

Apollo looks up to Everest because of his highly trained fighting abilities, and his overall charisma. Because Apollo spent most of his life being a stage dragon, his spine shots and fire blasts are inaccurate and flimsy, often missing targets. Everest, still seeing potential in Apollo, decided to help train him.

At first, Apollo didn't like the idea, since he had to wake up exactly when the sun had risen, every-single-morning. Apollo is often tired and would complain, but Everest explains that it's for his own good if he doesn't want to die at the hands of The Milneys.

Over time, Apollo had been used to all the training, and his skills are slowly becoming sharper than ever.

Sakari[]

(LightFury271's character) Apollo has a huge crush on Sakari. He would often try his best to impress her or make her feel happy when she is down. Apollo really likes easy going dragons, especially ones like Sakari, and also ones that do not hesitate to protect their loved ones. At first, Apollo met Sakari when on an expedition lead by Byron the Razorwhip. They were on a trip to collect June Blue Flowers, which unfortunately only grow at the highest peaks and cliffs. Byron, being an agile Razorwhip was selected for the job and was allowed to bring two helpers along. He chose Sakari, because she was agile and quick, and then also Apollo, sine if they get lost he could always just use his sense of smell to help them track back.

Byron tasked Apollo and Sakari to find those flowers together, so that they could use it to make healing herbs later. Byron then split off to find more of the plants in another direction.

Apollo and Sakari explored all over the place, still finding nothing. Apollo then had an idea to go look in the deeper parts of the mountain, which Sakari objected, saying that those areas are usually infested with Peak Fyres and much more dangerous dragons. Of course, Apollo doesn't really listen and Sakari had no choice but to follow him. Surprise surprise! They were ambushed by a pack of rogue dragons that wanted to kill them for entering, "their territory." Sakari, being brave and protective immediately stepped up to fight them, and Apollo who was motivated, decided to join in as well. Apollo tried aiming his spines, but the shot misfired and it passed its target. Upon the failure, his enemies laughed at him, saying that he must've been raised by humans to have such a bad aim. Sakari, who was not fond of their teasing stood up for Apollo, saying that being raised by humans has nothing to do with one's good heart. They then faced off, with Sakari and Apollo fighting the pack with all their might. In the end, their enemies retreated, with their tails behind their legs.

Byron returned to them, asking what had happened, and they explained. Byron who had found the blue flowers was seriously worried, for he knew that when he was not there his two team members were immediately attacked. Byron the swore to never bring along others to dangerous missions like this ever again. Apollo will never forget this day, and it was also what sparked his admiration for Sakari.

Tonnere[]

(ArachnidTheHivewingSkywing's character)

Apollo takes a liking to the blue Skrill's passive and laid-back personality, and could sometimes be seen hanging out with him. Apollo does not know of Tonnere's other side, which is being possessed by The Watcher, since Tonnere hides it quite well from him. Other than that, Apollo knows that he could trust him, and they have defeated some evil dudes together in battle.

Spirit[]

(ArachnidTheHivewingSkywing's character)

Spirit is one of Apollo's close friends. Due to their similar personalities and hobbies, they get along well most of the time, unless they are argueing over whether corn is better than lettuce, and vice versa. As their idiocy goes, this duo spends a great amount of time trying to prank other Team Soteria members, though it almost always ends up in failure. Apollo is somewhat of a mentor to Spirit, though he finds the small dragon, very, very hard to teach. Despite all the rough arguements and stupid situations they manage to get themselves in, they are very close, and they can count on each other whan they need to.

Quotes[]

  • le dramatic gasp "How dare you insult the Almighty Corn Princess! As King of Corn Land, I shall exile you!"

-Apollo acting like a child, roleplaying as the king of Corn land, screeching at the top of his lungs on a large heap of corn, colorized.

"Well why does Eros get to sleep all late? Look at him, he's smiling at me like the bloody bugger he is."

-Apollo complaining to Everest, asking why Eros doesn't need to train.

"Behold, Corn Land."

"All I see is the heaps of corn."

"That's the point Eros boy."

"So you're saying that our food storage is corn land?"

"Yes."

"You'd better not eat them all or else we'd probably starve over Winter."

  • Apollo mesmerized by the corn: " I am corn and corn is meeeeee."

"Heeeeeeeey Erooooos. Where's your Psyche?"

Eros: "Dead. In a grave. And if you won't shut up, you're going to be joining her."

Trivia[]

  • I originally planned Apollo to be a jade green color with vibrant and beautiful golden markings, but everything I ended up drawing would take up too much time so I scrapped it and opted for a much simpler design.
  • Apollo had gotten his name from the Greek God of the Sun, Apollo, who was the son of Zeus and Leto, having a twin sister named Artemis.
  • Apollo's vain and egoistic personality also came from his name origin. Apollo in myths had many affairs with both mortals and goddesses alike. He was also described as one of the most handsome of all Greek Gods, having blue eyes, a muscular build, and appearing youthful.
  • Apollo in Myths was actually a lot more mature than this Apollo, because well, remember his original name was BrightWing and Apollo was just a human given name. I just added the overly vain part, since Nadders are often seen as vain and over egotistical.
  • The relationship of Eros and Apollo in mythology was much more different, as Eros had tricked Apollo into despair after making him fall in love with a nymth called Daphne. Though, Eros's arrows caused Apollo to love Daphne but caused Daphne to hate Apollo. So Daphne, tired of getting chased by Apollo turned herself into a Laurel tree, and Apollo upon discovering broke into sadness. So he then made a crown from some of the Laurel leaves.
