Silva's Journey[]

Silva and her friends.

Silva and Friends.

Blurb:[]

When a Deadly Nadder encounters Silva - a dragon so well camouflagued that others trip over her - a wild adventure begins, involving ferns, fire and fun, and perhaps a few Dragon-Hunters too.

Notes Before The Story:[]

This does have some blood in it (Dragons hunting deer, etc) but it's pretty low-key.

I decided to write a simple story about some Dragons going on an adventure. Enjoy!

(Written by SnowFlakeDrake88. Art by SnowFlakeDrake88.)

Characters:[]

Silva, the 'Spring-Fury' hybrid. Silva's mother was a Leaf-Springer, her father was a NatureFury.

Skye, a Deadly Nadder.

Speedster, a Dramillion.

Shadow, a Night Terror that was outcast from his flock.

Digger, a Whispering Death.

Burn, a ChangeWing.

Snarler, a Monstrous Nightmare.

Fern Fronds[]

Skye sniffed the ground. Something was off... Another dragon had been around here recently, she was sure of it. Skye's sense of smell, like all Deadly Nadders, was very good. And yet she couldn't tell what sort of dragon it was - the scents of the forest were interfering. She raised her head, and looked about her at the surrounding forest. Nothing that she could see. Hmm... Skye kept her guard up as she tracked the deer she'd been following for several hours now.

The Nadder's nose sniffed eagerly, crept up the rise and saw her unsuspecting quarry bend down to crop the grass in the clearing. Skye looked around at the trees. She needed better cover, she didn't want to mess this up. She spotted a boulder covered in vegetation, vines, leaves, and green moss in a patch of sunlight at the edge of the clearing. Perfect for an ambush. Keeping low and out of sight, checking each footstep, Skye made her way stealthily around the wooded hill to her cover.

Her horny frill poking over the top, Skye judged the distance between the prey and the boulder. If she sprang over the rock, she could probably scorch it with her fire, and take it out with a bite, or failing that, some tail spines. The deer kept nibbling, it's back turned to her, unaware of the threat. Skye climbed onto the squishy warm moss of the boulder, and prepared to spring. Just as she had leapt, the rock moved under her in a very un-rocklike way, and she lost her balance, letting out a sqauwk. The rock said "Whuh?!" The deer ran for it's life, bounding away into the woods, as the Deadly Nadder hit the ground with an uncomfortable thump. "Oof." muttered Skye, as she got to her feet. The boulder shook itself, dislodging a few leaves, and a long, vine-wrapped tail stretched out straight. Skye stared in amazement as a head came out from under a wing, and a pair of yellow eyes blinked sleepily. The not-a-boulder yawned, showing a pink mouth, sharp white teeth and got to it's feet. The dragon turned to Skye, shaking out it's wings, which appeared to consist of leafy feathers. Or was it feathery leaves? Now that it was moving, Skye could see that it had the build of a Sand Wraith, although it certainly was not. It had large leafy tail fins, and the dragon's scales were patterned green, perfect for blending in with the forest. The dragon saw her, and jumped. "Oh! Hello..."

The Deadly Nadder dipped her head grumpily. Silva gave them an small smile. "Sorry about that." she said apologetically. "I was just sleeping." The Nadder rustled her wings. "Probably my fault, to be fair. I was hunting, and I thought you were a rock." Silva laughed.

"You'd be surprised how often that happens. My own parents tripped over me once." The Deadly Nadder cocked their head on one side. "Anyway," Silva continued "You said you were hunting?"

"I was." grumbled the Nadder, "but it got away."

"Oh." said Silva, flicking her tail slightly. "I know a good trout stream, if that's any help?"

"You do?" said the Nadder. "I'm new here." Silva nodded with understanding, and bounded off into the woods.

"C'mon, it's not far from here!" she called over her shoulder. "And the fish are really tasty!" The Deadly Nadder followed.

Fishing[]

"My name's Silva." said the forest-dragon happily as she jumped over logs and weaved between trees. "What's yours?" Skye marvelled at Silva's ability to seemingly vanish into the background, even when she was moving. "Skye," she replied, hurrying to keep up with the energetic dragon. "I just migrated from Thorn Island."

"Oh, the place with all the Sharp Class Dragons?"

"Yes, that one." said Skye as she stepped out onto the bank of the river. Silva already had a fish flapping in her jaws. "May I ask...?"

"Goff agheads." said Silva. Skye leant down by the bank, and looked into the clear running water.

"What species of dragon are you?" Skye turned her head back to the forest-dragon. Silva stopped chewing for a moment, and went quiet. She looked into the middle distance for a few seconds, as the water rushed by. Skye snapped her beak at a salmon and missed.

"Sping firry." she said, before continuing chewing. Skye tipped her crest on one side. She'd never heard of a 'Sping Firry' before...

"Sorry?" Silva swallowed her fish and said:

"Spring-Fury." Skye nodded thoughtfully, and went back to watching the water for fish. She hadn't heard of a Spring Fury either.

"So-o, are you a subspecies of the Night Fury?" Silva had another fish in her mouth, but she nodded. Skye hadn't even caught one.

Skye gobbled up the perch she'd finally caught and turned to her new-found friend. Silva was sitting on the bank and had swallowed her latest catch whole. She turned to the Nadder and grinned. "Told you they were the best." Skye couldn't disagree. That perch had been one of the plumpest and most flavoursome she'd ever tasted. Food tastes especially good when you've recently spent two days flying over an ocean. "Mm-hm." said Skye, bending down her frilled head for a drink.

Silva looked around her, and her leafy tail swished in the grass by the bank. Have I made a friend? "Hey, Skye?"

"Yeah?" said the Deadly Nadder, leaving the little beach and walking over with a second fish in her jaws. Silva smiled.

"How about I give you a tour of BlueRock Island?" she offered. Skye nodded.

"That's be great. It'd be good to know where everything is."

"Come on, then!" Silva called from the air, her feathery-leaf wings beating as she hung in the air. Skye spread hers and followed the Spring-Fury as they swooped off across the forested landscape, as the day drew in.

Skye saw something down below. "Hey, Silva, what's this?"

The two dragons peered down into a deep, wide hole. "It's a tunnel -" said Silva. "And it definetly wasn't there before." The ground began to shake, and then something burst out of the hole, spraying soil and rock everywhere. "Whsipering Death!" screeched the Deadly Nadder. "Take cover!"
